We had clinic last Friday. If you have read some of my posts before then you might remember, but if not this is how it goes. we have to be there at 8:30, they take you to your room and then all the doctors circle through and see you. It makes for a long day but it makes it super nice to not have to go down a million times to see one person. Our main visit was to see Neurology, have a bladder study test, and of course plastics for her back. As soon as our nuero surgeon walked in the door, he said "wow, her head looks great!" then he felt it and checked her out and told us it felt fantastic and that there are no signs of hydrocephalus, and we did not need to see him for 3 months! Her physical therapist and occupational therapist came in and checked her out. showed us some therapy to do at home with her, but overall they were very impressed with her strength. especially when she is doing tummy time. Ally loves tummy time. we only got one little lecture from one of them about her sleeping on her stomach. which I know we have not seen her before but I thought maybe she would have seen in her chart that she was not able to lay on her back or sides for her first 2 months of life. so not sure what she wanted us to do with her. Ally will continue so sleep on her belly, she likes it, she sleeps good, and if it wasn't ok in the first place I don't think they would have sent us home.
A whole bunch of people came in and out, asked lots of questions and checked Ally out. Finally Dr Siddiqi came to look at her back. We took of her bandage and this is what her back looks like now....
Doesn't it look AWESOME! it is healing so well. She still can not have a normal bath, but he said maybe just one more week and we can take the bandage off. we will send him a picture this week and see what he says. We saw the last of doctors and headed to check out, on our way we got to meet another sb family, the Lundberg's, they have a daughter with sb. she is 18 months and adorable. its crazy because she is cousins with a family from my home town in manti. Her Aunt works with my mom and they got us connected with them. It was so nice to meet other familys that know and understand what we are going through. Hopefully we will see them again soon and other Utah sb families.
our next appointment was for a bladder study test. we were really nervous about this one. we have cathed Ally since she was born. we only do it once a day. They got her ready and what they do is, they fill up her bladder and watch to see how much her bladder is holding, to see if she voids everything out, the pressures, and to see if there is any reflux, which means pee going up into her kidneys. Ally did GREAT! she voided everything all on her own. she had no reflux. She has a smaller bladder, but they said it was not something to worry about. they will just keep checking over time to see if it has grown any. and if not then we will do what we need to do to take care of it. but for now she is good and she does not have to have that test done again for 6 months! we will still cath her once a day. which I am fine with, a lot of kids have to be cathed more, some up to 6-8 times a day. so 1 is nothing!
We left PCMC that day not knowing what to think. we do not have to go back there for 3 MONTHS! we have been going there every week for the past 3 months! you can say we are feeling grateful, happy, and so very blessed! It was the best day we have ever had at PCMC!

Also just this week Ally decided to ROLL OVER!!! of course every time I tried to video or take pics she would not do it... so this is what I got so far. but it was super exciting and a huge milestone. SO TTSB (take that spina bifida)
you can bet we will have many more of these TTSB moments to come! but for now we will keep practicing the rolling!
Im so so glad Ally is healing so well! Yay on the bladder test too!! She is so grown up! I can't believe she's 3 months old already and look at her cute smiles! Deegan looks like such a good big brother....just lying there with Ally smiling. You've taught him so well on how to treat her. I know this is the wrong post, but your flag pole looks awesome! It is so neat that you have one in front of your yard! Also glad that your mom could help you out! What would we do without our moms? Thinking about you guys and still praying all continues to go well for you all.
